My Very First Floor Music

I was away at Camp Woodward when the demo cassette tapes arrived in the mail. I was so eager to start listening! There was a pay phone outside of my bunk where I would call my family and friends, so I would call to listen to the floor music demos through the phone. I think my father was more excited for me to choose music than I was because every time I called him, he would have the stereo up against the phone playing the demos for me to listen. It was as if my entire family was involved during...

Camp Woodward

After level 5, I think I competed just one level 6 meet and then my entire team went to Woodward in PA one summer (and many summers after that). This experience was unforgettable! Not only did my team become closer, because we got to spend 24hrs a day together, but we also got the opportunity to work with other coaches in a new environment.

The Squat On Nightmare

Gymnastics is a sport that requires serious physical strength, but what a lot of people tend to forget is how much of a mental sport this is as well. If you are constantly worrying and doubting yourself in gymnastics, unfortunately, you are going to continue to fall and potentially get hurt. This applies to life in general. If you are walking around complaining and being negative, more negative things will come your way. As a level 5 gymnast, I struggled with the Squat On.  Here is a quick video...

“When your Kingdom is Attacked, Don’t Flee. Show Them Why it’s Your Kingdom.”

Bullying. It can be so hard for kids in school. Now put those kids in a leotard and in gymnastics, one of the most competitive individual sports out there. Unfortunately, kids are not the only ones who have to deal with this type of abuse. I’d like to open up about my experiences getting bullied from almost every angle in gymnastics.  So who are the Bully’s, and who are they Bullying?

Believe you can, and you’re halfway there.

With all the time I spent in gymnastics and dance, my father managed to squeeze martial arts into my schedule. He trained for many years to earn his fourth degree black belt and started a karate school called Kin Ro Kai. My father and I had a very special bond because of our training together. I was his star student, and not because I was his daughter. It was my discipline and focus as a student (which I can credit to my gymnastics training). While the other students would goof around, I was con...

Life is a Dance. You learn as you go.

My mother had three girls enrolled in dance, gymnastics, and karate, I don’t know how she did it! I can attribute my current choreography experience with being a dancer for over 15 years. It all began with ballet, hip hop, jazz, and tap at The Danc’in Place in NY. I performed in recitals for almost 10 years before gymnastics overpowered my schedule. The memories I have being in the dance studio and learning techniques and choreography will never escape me. Especially the memories I h...

The very beginning

My Jumptwist journey began when my mom and I joined a mommy and me class at a gym called Twisters in Long Island NY. I was already enrolled in ballet at the time and had two older sisters who were in the gymnastics pre team/ team program.  At the age of 3.5 years old, I was pulled into pre-team and started training competitively under coach Tammy Marshall (currently coaching at Gold Medal Huntington in Long Island NY). By the age of 4 I had started competing level 2. It’s hard for me...
